The AlcoMate Prestige (AL-6000) FAQ and TIPS

1. What is the difference between the original AL-6000 and the AlcoMate Prestige (AL-6000)?

The original AL6000, portable breathalyzers, have the same basic technical specifications, but the AlcoMate Prestige (AL-6000) DOES NOT require Recalibration. A great savings in both time and money! BOTH breathalyzers require a longer sample of air to achieve better results through deep lung-air sampling. BOTH also feature a specialized "one-way-flow" mouthpieces which contain a valve that prevents reverse airflow (inhaling through the standard mouthpiece causes fresh air to be drawn into the device, drastically affecting test results).

2. Which breathalyzer is right for me?

 For Health Care Professionals, the Police Force and for high quality personal use, we recommend the AlcoMate Prestige (AL6000). For personal/private use, the AlcoHawk PRO, AL5000, or AlcoHawk Precision, digital breathalyzer, is recommended for its reliability and accuracy.Although the AlcoScan AL2500 is very convenient and easy to use, please keep in mind that these devices are meant for simple testing, and the lack of a mouthpiece can affect test results. We DO NOT recommend this product

3. What is the BAC (blood alcohol concentration) limit for driving?

The legal limit for BAC while driving varies from state to state across the US, but most states use DUI / DWI limits of 0.08% to 0.10%.

4. Can I drive if my BAC is less than 0.08%?

No, we do not recommend driving with any intake of alcohol. There is no "safe" level of drinking before driving.

5. What is calibration/recalibration? Why do I need it?

Calibration of breathalyzers involves the manual setting of specific, known laboratory BAC samples against the readings
recognized by the device. The AlcoMate Prestige (AL-6000) DOES NOT require recalibration.

6. How do I know if I need recalibration?

If you notice that your breathalyzer is giving incorrect readings (usually a little high), please try the following:

• Inhale fresh air into the device.
• If the reading is 0.00%, the device should be functioning correctly.
• If the reading is above 0.00%, you should send in the unit for recalibration.

7. What type of alcohol sensor is used by the original AL-6000 and the AlcoMate Prestige (AL-6000)?

The original AL6000 and the AlcoMate Prestige (AL-6000) use state-of-the-art oxide semiconductors which are sensitive to the detection of alcohol andresistant to breath contaminants that may affect test results.

Tips

1. Cleanup / Maintenance

In order to extend the life of your breathalyzer, we recommend the following steps after each breath test:

• Turn off power.
• Blow fresh air into your device. (If possible, you should inhale fresh air into the device rather than using your breath. If you use your breath, make sure there are no contaminants such as food, drink or smoke.)

2. Important Reminders

The oxide semiconductor sensors used for alcohol detection measure BAC by the buildup of substance on the sensor surface. Because of this, you should avoid the following:

• Wait at least 30 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking before conducting a breath test.
• Some common household products, such as alcohol-based mouthwash, can significantly affect test results. Please allow ample time before testing.
• Some medical conditions, such as diabetes or related internal organ ailments, may affect test results.
